Boutique publishing house Newman Springs Publishing has released Dave Covington’s new book, "The Memoirs of Sam and Chastity," which is now available for purchase on Amazon.

-- Newman Springs Publishing is pleased to be announcing the release of "The Memoirs of Sam and Chastity," a new work of original fiction by author, US Navy veteran, former Special Education teacher and Buddhist monk Dave Covington.

The complex and moving work—which has been inspired by Covington’s experiences in the navy, in special education and as a monk, as well as by his personal struggles—is now available on Amazon, both as a paperback and for download as a Kindle e-book. It is also available via other major book sellers including Barnes and Noble.
The novel is suitable for young adult readers and adults of all ages, and spans years as it follows its two main characters, Sam and Chastity. Sam is a troubled young Native American teen who holds aspirations to join the US Navy, and Chastity is a vulnerable young woman from a broken and abusive home who decides to become a nurse.
As the couple falls in love and forges a life together, they must face the dark challenges of their past, and the book deals meaningfully and sensitively with issues like mental health, trauma, abuse and discrimination. However, alongside these heavier themes, the narrative also showcases the transformative power of love, connection, community and trust.
At a cultural moment in which, as the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace recently reported, American citizens are more politically, ideologically and emotionally polarized—and in which more Americans also suffer from poor mental health, Dave Covington believes that literature can provide a roadmap for hope, empathy and understanding.
When asked what he hoped readers would take away from the book, the author said, “I hope readers will be inspired by the characters’ resilience and find strength in the message that love can heal and change lives, no matter how imperfect.”
Recent positive press for the book has involved a lengthy feature on John Visser’s show for The NXC Podcast Network, and a local book tour is slated for August and September, including book signings at Barnes and Nobles sites and boutique bookstores across Colorado.
